Tunisia will get 105 million euros from the EU to help it manage migration

According to European Commission President, the EU would provide 105 million euros to Tunisia in 2023 in order to combat irregular migration.

Von von Leyen stated in Tunis that the funds will be used to assist Tunisia with border control, search and rescue, and counter-smuggling activities.

This financial assistance is over three times the average yearly migration-related cash that the EU has provided to Tunisia over the previous two years, according to Von der Leyen.

Von der Leyen stated that stopping smugglers and migrant traffickers is in both the EU and Tunisia’s best interests.

The European Commission President made these remarks during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and Tunisian President Kais Saied.

European officials have advanced attempts to establish an agreement with Tunisia to prevent migrant boats from leaving its country.
