Breaking News: Israeli troops withdraw from West Bank’s Jenin

After conducting one of the greatest military operations in the West Bank, Israeli forces started leaving the Palestinian city of Jenin late on Tuesday

As the military convoys left Jenin, the operation that had started on Monday for Israel was officially over. But there was still the sound of explosions in the northern West Bank city.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, had earlier declared the operation to be over, saying that “Anyone who thinks that such an attack will prevent us from continuing our fight against terrorism is mistaken.”
According to Palestinian sources, the attacks claimed at least 12 lives.

At this same moment, a car struck several people at a bus stop in Tel Aviv, injuring 8.

After the crash, the car’s driver attempted to stab bystanders while holding a knife in his hand.

The car’s driver, who meant to carry out a terrorist act, was killed by the Israeli police.

A spokesman for Hamas described his actions as heroic and retaliation for the operation the Israeli army is now carrying out in the Jenin refugee camp for Palestinians in the West Bank.

While there were conflicting responses to the operation internationally, the violence once again emphasised the absence of any indication of a political settlement to the 10-year-old war./Reuters
