Israel strikes Syria

Israel carried out airstrikes in the early morning hours near the Syrian city of Homs, resulting in material damage but no injuries

According to the Israeli military, a Syrian air defense missile exploded over Israeli land, sparking additional attacks.

An unnamed military officer was quoted by Syrian state media as saying that some of the missiles fired by Israeli airplanes over neighboring Lebanon were intercepted by air defenses.

Regarding the airstrike in Homs, Israeli authorities remained silent.

However, they claimed that a missile from Syria’s air defense system burst over Israeli land without harm.

According to Israeli authorities, Rahat in southern Israel received rocket debris.

In retaliation, Israeli jets launched an assault on the missile’s launcher’s air defense battery.

The military claimed to have hit other targets but gave no further information.

Israel has conducted hundreds of strikes on targets in government-held areas of Syria in recent years, but it rarely acknowledges them.

Israel has sworn to prevent Iran from fortifying its positions in Syria.

On June 14, a suspected Israeli attack in Syria that injured one soldier occurred close to the capital Damascus.

In recent years, Israel has also repeatedly attacked the international airports in Aleppo, in northern Syria, and Damascus, frequently taking them down.

An Israeli airstrike on this airport on March 7 resulted in the deaths of three individuals and the cancellation of all flights.

After a few days, the airport was reopened.

Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes against Syria since the start of the country’s civil war, mostly focusing on the Syrian army and its allies Hezbollah and Iran.
