Russia-Ukraine wheat deal: The agreement with Russia guaranteeing the safe export of Ukrainian wheat, brokered last July by Turkey and the United Nations, is no longer in force
Its term ended, while the Kremlin said that at the moment it has no intention of continuing to implement it.
Moscow complains that its guarantors in this 1-year period have not kept their word to fulfill Russia’s conditions so that the grains and chemical fertilizers produced in this country are regularly exported to Western markets.
The lack of an agreement could lead to the blocking of grain exports from Ukraine, one of the main global suppliers, and consequently to an immediate increase in food prices.
However, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his conviction that this agreement will be extended and that he will talk about this personally with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the meeting scheduled for August.
