On Saturday, thousands of pro-Hamas protesters marched through downtown London asking for an end to Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip, which was brought on by the militant group’s attack last weekend in Israel
Protesters congregated at Oxford Circus before making their way to Downing Street, the official residence and office of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, while several of them waved Palestinian flags and posters that read “Free Palestine.”
The British and American governments were the targets of chants for their backing of Israel.
Student Belal Stitan, 22, expressed concern about his family members in Gaza.
“No one is safe in Gaza. All of my family members are in Gaza, and none of them are doing well’, he said, adding that he yearned to resume talking to his cousins about everyday matters like football and how they were doing in school.
