Kim Jong un of North Korea wants to ‘hold hands’ with Putin for strategic collaboration

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has pledged to “hold hands” with Russian President Vladimir Putin and strengthen strategic collaboration on their common aim of establishing a great country, according to official media KCNA.

Kim made the commitment in a letter to Putin on Russia Day, praising his choice to attack Ukraine and expressing “full support and solidarity.”

“Justice will triumph, and the Russian people will continue to add glory to the history of victory,” Kim stated in a message carried by KCNA.

Kim called for “closer strategic cooperation” with Moscow, “holding hands firmly with the Russian president, in accordance with the two countries’ peoples’ common desire to achieve the grand goal of building a powerful country,” it said.

North Korea has sought tighter relations with the Kremlin and backed Moscow during its invasion of Ukraine last year, citing the “hegemonic policy” and “high-handedness” of the US and the West. /Reuters
