France has made the decision to station a helicopter at the border in order to stop migrants from Italy from entering the country
In Ventimiglia, the area between Ponte San Ludovico and San Luigi, which is where the Italian and French borders lie, was flown over by the chopper.
Observation from above can be used to try to manage every migration movement.
The day before, Gerald Darmanin, France’s interior minister, declared that his country will not take any of the thousands of unauthorised immigrants who arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa and sparked a diplomatic crisis between the two nations.
He commented on Ursula von der Leyen‘s assertion regarding the “division of immigrants between countries”
“France isn’t planning to do that, no. Italy’s borders will be protected by France to stop these crossings.
He emphasised that immigrants who do not fit the requirements for asylum will not be accepted in France.
Darmanin proposed that rather than dispersing the immigrants around Europe, Italy should send them home.
