The Czech Republic will also restore temporary controls on the border with Slovakia at midnight, said the country’s Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

The Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration announced the decision to restore temporary control on the border with Slovakia at a conference at the ministry’s headquarters. He emphasized that compared to last year, illegal migration and the number of detected migrants in Slovakia increased by almost a thousand percent. He added that some foreigners go to Germany and other European Union countries through Poland . – In just two weeks, we detected and detained 551 illegal migrants – he explained.

The Polish government decided to resume temporary border control on the border with Slovakia. The control will be introduced at midnight, the minister informed. He added that in accordance with the procedure, it will be introduced for 10 days initially, but it is highly probable that it will be extended.

Kamiński noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Slovakia, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic had been informed about this, as well as the European Commission in accordance with the Schengen Code.

It will be implemented in a way that is as least burdensome as possible for our citizens and the citizens of the European Union. It will be a check upon entry to Poland, he said.
