“Forced relocation does not solve the problem of migration, but it violates the sovereignty of the Member States. Poland will not pay for the mistakes of other countries’ immigration policies.”

After many hours of discussions, the interior ministers met in Luxembourg on Thursday decided on a negotiating position regarding the revision of EU immigration laws.

Poland and Hungary abstained from voting in favor of the purported migrant accord.

The European Parliament and the Council Presidency will negotiate from this stance as the starting point.

Morawiecki: “Of all the countries in the world, Poland took in the most refugees from war.”

The leader of the Polish government noted in a Facebook post on Friday that Poland has quickly taken in more war refugees than any other country in the globe since the start of the conflict in Ukraine.

“For millions of people, we have opened our borders, doors, and hearts. We exemplified what solidarity entails. Nobody made us comply with it. But nobody came to our aid either.”

He emphasized that Polish households, NGOs, and the Polish budget bore the disproportionate burden of the massive humanitarian effort.

He said, “Big thanks were not followed by enough funds from the international community and the EU.”

“Force cannot be used to compel solidarity. It is impossible to impose hospitality and solidarity by coercion. neither to impose integration on those who object.”

According to Morawiecki, forced relocation not only breaches the sovereignty of member states but also does not address the issue of migration.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Poland will not be held responsible for the immigration policy of other nations.
