In an effort to stop the British minister from becoming the NATO secretary, President Emmanuel Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron “tried to prevent the British Minister of Defense, Ben Wallace, from becoming the next secretary of NATO” as a result of the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union (EU).

French officials have notified their NATO counterparts that “they want the next secretary of the organization to be a name from the EU,” according to a report in the British daily “Daily Telegraph.”

Ben Wallace is not from an EU member state, according to a person who talked to the publication.

Many nations, especially France, demand that the incoming secretary come from an EU nation.

This action has been seen as a part of France’s efforts to reduce the EU’s reliance on Washington for security and to increase its military independence.

Norwegian While it is believed that US President Joe Biden has urged Jens Stoltenberg to extend his tenure, Stoltenberg, who has been the NATO Secretary General since 2014, is scheduled to leave his position in September.

Among the names identified as Stoltenberg’s prospective replacements is Wallace, the British Defense Minister.

Wallace had stated in a statement that “I have always thought that this will be a terrific position (as NATO Secretary General).

I adore my work right now. However, I also enjoy my current job.
