The Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood of the European Union, Oliver Varhelyi, has condemned the attack against the Kosovo Police
Varhelyi wrote on the X platform that the violence must stop immediately.
“I send my deepest condolences to the family of the Kosovo policeman who died this morning and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. We support the work of EULEX & KFOR in the field and call for a full investigation”, he wrote.
The serious incident happened around 03:00 this morning in the village of Banjska in Leposavič, where the Kosovo police patrol was attacked.
Armed persons have blocked the way of the police car with two trucks on the Mitrovica-Leposavič axis.
Then they shot in the direction of the police car, where as a result officer Afrim Bunjaku lost his life and two others were injured.
I strongly condemn the attack against #Kosovo Police in N🇽🇰. Violence has to be ceased immediately✋
