KHERSON, Ukraine, June 6
Kakhovka dam attack: The destruction of a hydroelectric power plant next to a broken dam in Nova Kakhovka, southern Ukraine, has been predicted to have disastrous effects.
According to reports in foreign media, the plant’s Ukrainian operator also claimed that it had been totally destroyed.
Officials from Russia have made a similar statement along with the statement that “it is clear that its repair would not be possible”.
The government of Ukraine has warned residents in the area to evacuate due to the possibility of catastrophic flooding and accused Russia of bursting a dam on the Dnieper River.
One detonation, according to a witness who was interviewed by a Ukrainian television station, “and everything collapsed like a house of cards.”
The Kherson authorities ordered the urgent evacuation of thousands of citizens from the innumerable nearby villages as well as the town’s own neighborhoods that are anticipated to be submerged by reservoir waters.
Volodymyr Kovalenko, the mayor of Nova Kajovka, claimed that the water level in the city was increasing quickly. The zoo, the summer theatre, the cafes and playgrounds were all under water, he said.

He claimed that because it looks that Russian soldiers are interfering with Internet access, it is now impossible to gather information from the city.
While the National Security Council was called by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Aerial photographs have shown the dam being demolished and the significant water flow.
