Zelensky says it’s ‘not the right time for elections’ as the end of his five-year term approaches

In a Monday address, Ukrainian president Zelensky said Kiev should not have to deal with elections and its conflict with Russia

UKRAINE, NOV 07 (Visegrád24) — “We must realize that now is the time of defense, the time of the battle that determines the state’s and people’s fate, not the time of manipulations, which only Russia expects from Ukraine. I believe that now is not the right time for elections,” he said.

Zelensky previously had not ruled out a presidential contest next year. However, elections are currently suspended in Ukraine due to martial law.
