Attack in Brussels: Belgian officials admitted that they had been monitoring the man who shot dead two Swedish football fans on Monday night since 2016 after multiple warnings of potential radicalization but were unable to stop his murderous rampage
The shooter was an illegal immigrant who should have been kicked out of the country in 2020 after having his asylum application denied, but reportedly had no prior convictions despite suspicions of human trafficking.
His name was not added to the terrorism watch list created after the 2016 Brussels bombings that killed 32 people despite an unnamed third country alerting Belgian officials to his “radicalized profile.”
