Hungary is adamant that a deal with Russia is necessary to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine

Today, a top Hungarian official advocated for a peaceful settlement to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia

Following three months of terrible battle in which hundreds of soldiers from both sides lost their lives, attempts to breach Russian defences in southern Ukraine have failed.

According to the British Express network, the Ukrainian government recently emphasised the capture of Robotyne, which it described as a “turning point in the war” and referred to as the village to the north of the Russian defence line.

Gergely Gulyas, a spokesman for the Hungarian government, stated today that the absence of progress from Ukraine is evidence that a negotiated peace is the only way to resolve the conflict with Moscow.

Gulyas proposed a deal between Moscow and Kiev that would include a pledge from Kiev that it would never join NATO to give security guarantees.

In his speech to the press and students, Gulyas stated: “Peacekeeping forces or other similar measures would eventually guarantee peace in Ukraine.”

“The West, which backs Ukraine, should offer Russia security guarantees rather than Ukraine joining NATO.”

Gulyas continued, “Peace will work if Washington is involved with Moscow and Kiev.” He urged the US to take part in the talks.

In order to cut off the land connection to the Crimean peninsula, which Russia acquired in 2014, Ukraine’s most recent attack concentrated on the southern region along the Sea of Azov coasts.
