German Chancellor Olaf Scholz declared the decision to furnish NATO with critical military assets, including funding of 2% of GDP.
“We will ensure that they have the necessary equipment not only through effective financing from the special fund, but also by spending 2% of GDP on defense for the first time in decades beginning next year,” added Olaf Scholz.
Scholz urged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to open the path for Sweden to join NATO.
“I am completely convinced that Finland, as a new ally, should be seated at the summit table.” And I call on Turkey’s re-elected President Erdogan to immediately prepare the road for Sweden’s accession,” he continued.
