The search for the flying object that flew into Poland from Belarus has begun

On May 13, Poland’s Defense Ministry announced that it had identified an item flying from the direction of Belarus in its airspace.

According to Polish officials, this item is most likely an observation balloon.

The radar lost touch with the missing item near Ripin, a Polish town situated 143 kilometers northwest of Warsaw, according to the ministry’s tweet.

Authorities have initiated a search for the facility, with a helicopter, drone, and ground soldiers from the Territorial Defense Forces participating, according to an armed forces official.

The flying item was discovered on Friday in Bialowieza, Poland, close the border with Belarus. Radar surveillance was then carried out, and the item was spotted again in Polish airspace about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to police.

The statement comes after two additional intrusions into Polish airspace since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, a neighboring nation.

Two Poles were murdered in November of last year when a missile landed in the country’s east. Western authorities believe a Ukrainian air defense missile strayed off course when the Ukrainian air force was attempting to repel a heavy Russian onslaught.
